چکیده

Sedimentary rocks have complicated permeability fluctuations arising from the geological processes that formed them. These permeability fluctuations significantly affect the flow of fluids through the rocks. We analyze data on two sandstone samples from different geological environments, and find that the permeability fluctuations display long-range power-law correlations characterized by an exponent H. For both samples, we find H ≈ 0.82− 0.90.

Quantitative Fracture Modeling on Low-permeability Sandstone Reservoirs by Stress Field

A new method is used to quantify the relationships between stress field and primary fracture characters (aperture, density) in low-permeability sandstone reservoirs based on laboratory experiments and mathematical development, through which, quantitative fracture modeling is set up. Using this modeling, we can load it into the stress analysis software (Ansys 10.0) to acquire 3D palaeo stress fi...

A new investigation on modeling of permeability reduction during CO2 flooding processes in sandstone oil reservoirs

Permeability reduction in oil reservoirs during primary oil recovery and using the enhanced oil recovery methods are complicated problem which most of the oil field in worlds has encountered. In this work, a modified model based on four phase black oil model (oil, water, gas, and asphaltene) was developed to account permeability reduction during CO2 flooding in cylindrical coordinates around a ...

Permeability measurements inside compaction bands In situ permeability measurements inside compaction bands using X-ray CT and lattice Boltzmann calculations

The paper presents some results of the characterization of microstuctural differences inside and outside compaction bands in natural sandstone. Specimens of Aztec sandstone were scanned at the synchrotron APS, at Argonne National Laboratory (USA). Porosity measurements obtained by image analysis show a sharp transition inside/outside the compaction band. Finally, preliminary permeability measur...

Sand Production Control in Sandstone Reservoirs Using a Modified Urea-formaldehyde Re

Several techniques have been used for sand production control in sandstone reservoirs. The main objective of this research is to present a suitable resin to be used as a consolidation agent in oil reservoirs. To achieve this purpose, urea-formaldehyde resin, phenol-formaldehyde resin, and modified urea-formaldehyde resin were selected to be studied. Core samples were made by the sand sample prov...

Production Analysis of Tight Sandstone Reservoir in Consideration of Stress-Sensitive Permeability

Received: August 22, 2016 Revised: February 07, 2017 Accepted: March 10, 2017 Abstract: Background: Tight sandstone reservoirs play an important role in the oil industry. The permeability of tight sandstone reservoir generally has stronger stress sensitivity than that of conventional reservoir because of the latter’s poor physical properties. However, the production analysis of tight sandstone ...
